Slovenian Alexander Chevran was elected president of the European Football Union (UEFA) to succeed Frenchman Michel Platini after the superiority in the number of votes over his rival Dutchman Michael van Praag, in the elections that took place during the Extraordinary General Meeting (Congress UEFA) Greek capital, Athens.
He announced Chevran win (48 years) after he won 42 votes to seal the competition by an absolute majority (50 +1) in the first round, while the Prague head of the Dutch Federation received 13 votes.
And participated in the voting of the 55 UEFA national associations, has been chosen to complement Chevran so the remaining period of the mandate of platinum, which was supposed to expire in March 2019.
